Decadent Glamping In Leh & Ladakh

The ‘hippest’ catchphrase when it comes to luxury travelling these days, is Glamping. Take all the opulent sumptuousness a five-star hotel can offer and combine it with the most breath-taking locations in the great outdoors. Glamorous Camping. Trust us when we say that glamping in Leh Ladakh is an essential check on that travel bucket list.

Co-founderof Indiana Travels and a travel aficionado herself, Asmita got to experience this heady journey in person. She is of the belief that most travel enthusiasts stumble when it comes to creating a plan that rounds off all the offbeat locations and, striving for thevalue-add of enjoying the destination itself. This is where her experience steps in. The master package that Indiana builds for you, is then based on her first-hand experiences. And the Leh-Ladakh Glamping expedition was nothing short of magical, a magic that she would like nothing better than to share with as many people as she can.

A step out of your plush tent and you are in the midst of a valley ringed by mountain peaks and covered in wildflowers. Take a step back inside the lavish tent, and you have warm wooden floors and a gorgeous four-poster-bed. Colonial inspired furniture in elegant wood and subtle hued drapes complete the picture. That’s what you get while glamping at the Thikseycampsite in Leh.
The first day, we let you get used to the thin Himalayan air found only at the pinnacle of north India. From then onwards, like the genie that we are, we can tweak and twist your itinerary until it fits you like a glove.

The obvious tick on your list while in Leh is visiting the monasteries. The challenging hike to the craggy Buddhist temples is offset by the panoramic views of the undulating scenery. But, if you are like me, and need something out-of-the-box, then a visit to Homoeo farms is just what the hour calls for. These organic farms are a unique experiment of growing produce in high altitudes that rarely allow for much farming. Get the first-hand experience, talk to food experts and be a part of an eco-friendly escapade.

If you’re thinking something more conventional like walking beside the blue lake featured in 3 Idiots, then our second glamping site should be your choice. The azure-blue waters of the Pangong Lake are located in a strikingly isolated and remote area about 150kms from Leh in the Nubra Valley. The glamorous camp overlooks the dazzling Diskit Monastery. Bonfire sessions that liven up an environment made more vibrant by local artists, andcaptured for eternity by photographers are just some of the things we can arrange for you.
For those looking for an exceptional experience, a walk about the school featured in 3 Idiots and a meet with Sonam Wangchuk, the man who inspired Amir Khan’sPhunsukhWangdu, is definitely something we recommend.

If you get tired of the decadent lodgings at Diskit that are faintly reminiscent of safari camps in Africa, then take a High Tea at Hunder Sands. Camel safaris to-and-fro through the rolling sands dunes for your group is surely an experience you would not want to miss.

You know the adage ‘postcard-worthy’? It truly does apply to Leh and Ladakh. If you’ve heard of the motto “a thread count so high it feels like a cloud” that can neatly sum up this Glamping experience. All you need to do is show up, and we’ll do the rest.

Why wait, GO SEE!
